Great article Ted. I don't know if this is a common experience, but any sense of destiny I have, comes partly from an 'over compensation' of past lack. Like Churchill, he was seen as the man beating a dead horse for 6 years (& upsetting the Germans in the process). Now as Prime Minister, he was the one riding the white steed into battle. People of great success have over-compensated for past failure (or public criticism). For good ol' Winston, everything may have lead to that night, but the road was a lonely one. Many a swan started life as an ugly duckling.
